Cringe or
is it confidence in disguise?
Cringe or
am I a mirror of your internalised shame?
Cringe or
am I just louder than your fear of being seen?
Cringe or
am I the version of you that stopped asking for permission?
Cringe or
did I break an unspoken social rule you only follow out of fear?
“No one on their deathbed is going to look back and say, ‘Thank God I avoided being cringe.’”- Donald Glover.
I used to flinch at the idea of being seen. Not just noticed — seen. The kind of visibility that comes from showing up online, raw and imperfect, sharing my thoughts, my face, my voice.
Every time I hit “record,” that little voice whispered, “This is so cringe.”
Over time, I realised something profound: what I was calling cringe was actually just my fear of being fully expressed.
It wasn’t embarrassment — it was growth in motion, self worth stretching into places it hadn’t touched yet.
The more I leaned into creating content as a life coach, the more I realised the resistance I felt wasn’t unique — it was universal.
When someone calls something “cringe,” it often says more about their relationship with vulnerability than about the thing itself.
I became aware that my so called “cringe moments” were holding up a mirror to other people’s internalised shame — the kind they hadn’t made peace with yet.
That mirror was uncomfortable, not because of me, but because it reflected a part of them still waiting to be liberated.
So now, I wear the cringe label with pride.
I film in public. I speak my truth online. I post the take that feels the most me, even if it’s not polished.
Because my job — my calling — isn’t to be perfect.
It’s to lead by example and that means choosing authenticity over approval, expansion over image, and self expression over silence.
If being fully myself looks like “cringe” to someone else, I’ll take it — because I’ve come to understand that what’s truly embarrassing is hiding a powerful message just to stay likable.
