Don’t underestimate the person who got back up without an audience.
Who did the work nobody clapped for — the coaching sessions, the hard conversations, the nights spent untangling old wounds alone. Who kept choosing themselves quietly, even when it would’ve been easier to stay stuck in the familiar.
Don’t underestimate the person who learned how to sit with their pain instead of running from it.
Who stopped distracting themselves from the uncomfortable feelings and started asking what they were trying to teach them. Who learned that healing isn’t always about forgetting what happened. Sometimes it’s about understanding it differently, making peace with what you can’t change and deciding it no longer gets to define you.
Don’t underestimate the person who kept their heart open after it had every reason to close.
Who stayed kind in rooms that weren’t kind back. Who chose compassion without abandoning their boundaries. Who learned that being soft doesn’t mean being weak, and that protecting your peace doesn’t require becoming cold.
Don’t underestimate the person who learned to rest without guilt.
Who stopped apologising for taking up space. Who realised that saying no doesn’t make them difficult, and that needing time to themselves doesn’t mean they’re falling behind.
Don’t underestimate the person who is still in the middle of it.
Still figuring it out. Still having difficult days. Still stumbling sometimes and standing tall on others.
Healing isn’t a straight line. You can feel like you’ve moved forward and still find yourself triggered by something you thought you had already worked through. That doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning.
It means you’re human.
Growth isn’t measured by how perfectly you handle everything. It’s measured by the fact that you keep choosing differently. That you notice the patterns you once couldn’t see. That you pause before reacting. That you speak to yourself with a little more kindness than you did before.
Maybe healing isn’t becoming an entirely new person.
Maybe it’s coming home to yourself.
Becoming someone a little softer, a little wiser, a little more grounded and a little more whole.
So if nobody has told you lately: be proud of the work you’ve done that nobody else got to see.
The boundaries you learned to set.
The things you finally let go of.
The conversations you finally had.
The moments you chose yourself.
The days you kept going when you didn’t feel like it.
It all counts.
You don’t need to be completely healed to be proud of how far you’ve come.
Keep going. 🌱
