I think one of the hardest things about starting again is that we rarely do it with both feet.

Part of us moves forward while another part stays behind, staring at the wreckage, replaying old mistakes, carrying old guilt, and wondering whether we’ve earned the right to begin again.

We tell ourselves we’ll move on when we’ve healed enough.

When we’ve learned enough.

When we’ve suffered enough.

When we’ve finally become someone worthy of a fresh start.

But what if that’s not how it works?

What if no one is keeping score?

What if there isn’t some invisible ledger tracking every mistake you’ve made and every lesson you’ve learned before you’re allowed to step into something new?

So many people carry old versions of themselves like a debt they still owe the world.

Past failures.

Past relationships.

Past identities.

Past chapters that ended differently than expected.

And because of that, they keep looking backwards for permission instead of forwards for possibility.

The truth is that life doesn’t ask you to prove you’ve hurt enough before you’re allowed to begin again.

It doesn’t require you to justify every opportunity, every joy, every fresh start.

There is no magical moment where you finally become qualified for a new chapter.

There is only this moment.

And the next one.

And the choice of what you carry into it.

Maybe The Great Unlearning here is realising that starting again isn’t something you earn.

It’s something you choose.

Not because you’ve perfectly healed from the past.

But because you’re willing to stop living inside it.

know you’re tired. I know starting again feels less like freedom and more like standing at the edge of something vast with no guarantee of the other side.

I know there is a particular grief in beginning… the grief of admitting that something is over, that you are not who you were, that the old life doesn’t fit anymore and you can’t go back and make it fit no matter how much you reshape yourself to try.

But listen.

You are already different.

You have already changed in ways you haven’t named yet.

The starting again isn’t something that will happen for it has already begun.

How beautiful, nerve wrecking, exciting all at once… 🦋
