Everyone Wants a Garrett Graham, But That’s Not What Stayed With Me
Everyone wants a Garrett Graham.
And honestly? I get it.
He’s charming, loyal, emotionally available, protective, and somehow manages to raise the standard for fictional men everywhere.
But after finishing Off Campus, that’s not actually what stayed with me.
The part I couldn’t stop thinking about wasn’t the romance.
It was the friendships.
As women, we’ve learnt and been conditioned to spend so much time talking about, thinking about and desiring the right partner that we sometimes forget to celebrate the women who help us become the person that partner gets to love.
The friend who sits with you through heartbreak.
The friend who tells you the truth when you need it.
The friend who celebrates your wins like they’re her own.
The friend who reminds you who you are when life gets messy.
This isn’t about choosing female friendships over romantic relationships.
Both matter.
Healthy romantic love can be one of life’s greatest gifts.
But so can the women who sit beside you through career changes, self-doubt, heartbreak, healing and all the chapters in between.
That’s what Off Campus unexpectedly reminded me of.
Not just how beautiful romantic love can be.
But how important it is to have people in your corner who know every version of you and choose to stay anyway.
Because sometimes the most important love story isn’t the one you’re dating.
It’s the friendships that help write every chapter around it.
👀 controversial I know!!
